Final result: between 1 week and 3 months

Recovery: 24 hours to 1 week

Why?

With age, the distribution of the skin’s pigmentation cells is no longer perfectly homogeneous. Little light brown to dark brown spots appear primarily on the face, the back of the hands or the forearms.

Pigmented spots can be classified into different groups. The treatment depends on the type of pigmentation that needs to be addressed. If a spot appears malignant, it cannot be removed using laser techniques. If the spot is benign, removal is not strictly necessary, but it may be justified for aesthetic reasons. Treatment of pigmented lesions is performed using the MiXto SX® laser.

Mechanism of action

Mechanism of action

When a CO₂ laser beam comes into contact with the epidermis (outer skin layer), it instantly heats, vaporizes, and removes the skin surface. A new epidermis is then formed thanks to the increased collagen production stimulated by the MiXto SX® laser.

Treatment areas, indications, and contraindications

Pigmentation and old-age spots can be treated.

They are usually found on the face, the back of the hands, and the forearms.

Procedure overview

The treatment takes approximately 20 minutes, depending on the number and size of the pigmented spots. The dark color gradually fades. In the case of age spots, a single treatment is usually sufficient.

After the treatment, the pigmented spot may darken, and small blisters can form in the treated area. These blisters are temporary and usually disappear within a few days.

During the treatment period—and especially in the weeks before and after the procedure—it is recommended to avoid exposure to sunlight, tanning beds, and the use of self-tanning products.

In most cases, results are visible after just a few weeks.
