Why?
A breast lift (or mastopexy) is a procedure designed to address sagging breasts. It is commonly sought by women who wish to lift and reshape their breasts, providing a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance.
This procedure differs from a breast reduction, which focuses on removing excess fatty and/or glandular tissue. If volume is also a concern, a breast lift can be combined with the insertion of breast implants for added fullness. Additionally, corrections to the areola or nipple position can be included as part of the treatment to enhance the overall aesthetic outcome.
The Intervention
A breastlift is performed under general anaesthesia and takes approximately three hours.
The surgeon makes a first incision around the areola and a second, in a vertical line, from the areola towards the lower fold of the breast.
The excess of skin (and possibly the excess of fatty and/or glandular tissues) is eliminated whereas the nipple and the areola remain in contact with the glandular tissues and are repositioned at a higher level. The skin which is above the nipple is retightened below the nipple, in order to create the new shape of the breast.
Results and Post-Operative Care
Na de borstoperatie zal u een verband aangebracht krijgen dat gedurende minimum 2 weken ter plaatse moet blijven. Wij zien u graag terug voor wondcontrole en verbandwissel in onze kliniek. Gedurende de herstelperiode wordt aangeraden een specifieke beha te dragen voor ongeveer een 2 maanden om de borsten te ondersteunen en het genezingsproces te bevorderen.
The final result of the procedure becomes fully visible approximately six months post-op, once the swelling has subsided and the breast has adjusted to its new shape.
