Scars: Virtually invisible, in the crease of the eye

Final results: After 2 months

Social isolation: 7-10 days

Why?

An upper eyelid correction involves removing excess skin that contributes to a heavy or tired appearance.

During the initial consultation, the surgeon will assess whether the “tired” look is truly caused by sagging eyelids, or if it is actually the result of drooping eyebrows.

The Procedure

Blepharoplasty is typically performed under local anaesthesia and takes around 45 minutes. The surgeon makes a discreet incision along the natural crease of the eyelid, ensuring that any resulting scars are virtually invisible.

Excess skin is removed, and if necessary, fatty tissue near the inner corner of the eye—close to the nose—can also be addressed during the same procedure.

Results and Post-Operative Treatment

The patient can return home immediately after the operation.

Some swellings and contusions can appear.

The stitches are removed four to seven days after the intervention; social activity can be resumed after a week.

A blepharoplasty of the upper eyelid enables lively, rejuvenated eyes to be regained.

Additional Information

  • In the days following blepharoplasty, it is recommended to apply cold compresses around the eyes to help reduce swelling and bruising. Be sure not to place ice directly on the skin—always use a protective layer. Wearing sunglasses during the first week is also advised, both to shield your eyes from light and to discreetly cover any visible swelling or bruising.
  • The incision for upper eyelid surgery is made along a natural crease, while the lower eyelid incision is placed just beneath the lashes. Because eyelid skin is very thin and delicate, it tends to heal quickly, and any scarring typically fades rapidly.
  • Contact lenses may usually be worn again starting the day after upper eyelid surgery. Physical exertion should be avoided for two to three weeks. To further aid healing, it’s best to sleep with your head slightly elevated—around 30 degrees above your body.
